Wow. It is Monday morning and Every Folk 2019 is wrapped!
We’re still in awe that we’ve managed to pull off a THIRD annual Every Folk camp, and we’re all still floating in the clouds a bit after such an amazing weekend. Each year, the Every Folk experience gets richer, and as the camp hosts, we are more and more amazed by the connections and experiences the campers bring to our extended weekend of folk music and skills. We are so grateful to every single person that joined us this year - for all of camp, or even just for Saturday’s Potluck Square Dance.
We are absolutely indebted to our incredible staff and teachers, who brought so much expertise and love to each class at camp. We also want to take a moment to thank the Point Reyes National Seashore Association for opening up the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center to us for a second year in a row, as well as for sponsoring the community Square Dance on Saturday night.
An immense thank you as well to Dave Cook, our incredible camp chef, who brings the most delicious local ingredients and a touch of lore to our daily meals.
Camp this year was full of some exceptional moments - from classes, to spontaneous jams, to square dancing and singing in the field - we’ve shared a few photos below. One personal favorite was Friday night’s camp fire. Everyone brought such beautiful stories, jokes, songs, and open-hearts to the evening, and we loved the spontaneous shares and the group howl under the stars.
We learned new tunes, made new friends, and mastered a few unique skills (including hand-flute techniques from a camper!). We are absolutely uplifted after four incredible days. Thank you to all of you for bringing your uniqueness to camp, your willingness to learn and lean into something new, and for being so welcoming and inclusive of all.
We are truly grateful. Here’s to another great year!! We will see you next October!
